22nd "Seghizzi" International Choral and Solo Voice Composition Contest

Associazione Corale Goriziana “C. A. Seghizzi” announces the 22nd edition of the International Choral and Solo Composition Competition “Seghizzi.”

Musicians of any nationality and citizenship, with no age limits, can participate in the competition.

The compositions must be never published and never awarded before in previous composition contests. They must be submitted as a single file in PDF format and preferably (but not mandatory) along an mp3 file (which can also be obtained using a notation software) and sent via email to “Segreteria del Concorso internazionale di composizione Seghizzi” at info.seghizzi@gmail.com by midnight of 30th November 2024.

The competition is divided into two categories:

(Category A) choral compositions (for mixed, male, female or children’s voices) either a cappella or with piano accompaniment; maximum duration: about five minutes. The shortlisted compositions may be selected and performed by choirs participating in one of the next Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competitions.

(Category B) compositions for solo voice and piano accompaniment (with just one pianist performing); maximum duration: about five minutes. The shortlisted compositions may be selected and performed by soloists participating in one of the next “Seghizzi” International Chamber Music Competition for Solo Voice and Piano.

Schedule

The international jury of the composition contest will evaluate the submitted works by the 15th of December 2024  and select a maximum of four scores for each competition category, taking into account their aesthetic qualities and performability.

The international jury of the composition contest will award the CHORAL COMPOSITION TROPHY along with 1.000,00 Euros prize and the SOLO VOICE COMPOSITION TROPHY along with 1.000,00 Euros prize to the composers who got the highest mark in each category provided that at least a score of 85/100 has been reached. At the sole discretion of the jury, no trophy and prize may be awarded.

Furthermore, the scores shortlisted in Category A might be included in the regulations of one of the next International Choir Singing Competitions as pieces for the “contemporary music” Category, while the scores shortlisted in Category B might be included in the regulations of one of the next International Chamber Music Competition for Solo Voice and Piano; the performers may decide to sing just one or more/all pieces.
