Pietro Ferrario
He began his musical studies under Mariateresa Nebuloni, and after his academic studies he graduated in piano, composition, organ, choral music and choral conducting from the conservatories of Brescia, Milan and Alessandria, studying with Luigi Molfino and Bruno Bettinelli. He specialized in composition with Azio Corghi, in music composition for the cinema with E. Morricone, in organ studies with L. Rogg, G. Parodi and others, and in choir conducting with G. Graden and T. Kaljuste. He performs concerts as choir director, pianist and organist. As a composer, he is the author of various choral and instrumental pieces, performed and recorded in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Australia, China, United States, New Zealand, Argentina, Israel, Japan, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Norway, South Africa, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Indonesia, Belgium, United Kingdom, Latvia) by distinguished ensembles and established performers, in major music seasons (such as Carnegie Hall, 2019) and in major European choral competitions. He has composed on commission for major institutions such as Fondazione Toscanini in Parma, Settimane Musicali in Stresa, Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, Landesakademie Ochsenhausen (D). In 1995 he was awarded with a certificate of meritorious achievement as organist at the T.I.M. International Competition in Turin. In 2004 he achieved 1st place in the 1st International Choral Composition Trophy “Seghizzi” in Gorizia, in 2008 1st place at the International Composition Competition “Bettinelli” in Milan, in 2016 1st place in the Canta Petrarca Choral Composition Competition in Arezzo, in 2020 1st place at the AERCO International Choral Composition Competition (with performance of the winning piece by the King’s Singers in Bologna in 2021), in 2022 1st place at the 2nd International Composition Competition for Choir and Organ “Caecilia Virgo.” He has published for Ricordi, Carrara, Rugginenti, Sonzogno, Feniarco, Edizioni Musicali Europee, Sonitus, the German Carus-Verlag and Ferrimontana and the Japanese Edition Icot. He has been invited as a jury member in major international choral and composition competitions in Italy and abroad (Gorizia, Maasmechelen, Canta Petrarca Arezzo, etc.). In 1997, he founded the Calycanthus Vocal Ensemble of Parabiago, winner of numerous national and international awards (such as Arezzo 2005 and Vittorio Veneto 2006, Feniarco award as the best Italian group in Gorizia 2008, Grand Prize in the 2nd National Choral Competition in Carpi 2023), performing concerts at important music festivals in Italy and abroad, with programs ranging from Renaissance to contemporary to a cappella pop-jazz, including world premieres of some works by Miškinis, Dubra, Corghi, Antognini and Bianchera, and recording two CDs for Bottega Discantica and SMC Records.
Since 1986 he has been performing during the liturgical service at the Prepositural Church SS. Gervaso and Protaso in Parabiago (MI), since 2000 on the restored Carrera Organ dated 1841.
He has taught various subjects (composition, choir conducting and choral composition, harmony theory and analysis, rhythmic theory and musical perception) for more than a decade at the conservatories of Vicenza, Cagliari, Sassari, Cesena, Parma, Pesaro and Alessandria. Since 2023 he has been the professor of music theory, rhythmic theory and perception at the Conservatory of Piacenza “Giuseppe Nicolini”.
Mario Giuseppe Lanaro
He approaches music at a very young age: the example of his organist father, the sounds of the De Lorenzi phonochromic organ in the Cathedral, a rich collection of music determine his future choices. Spreading music is his daily commitment; he continues to study Conducting, Composition, Vocality, Teaching and Organ; he talks about music, listens to a lot of it; he searches, tries, performs in concert, composes, invents.
And he has fun.
Singing in a choir to listen and listen to oneself, to develop a musical sense, to travel through time, for a human and artistic education. He bases his activity as a Conservatory teacher on these principles: in 1983 in Rovigo, in 1984 in Trento and from 1993 to 2019 at the “E. F. Dall’Abaco” in Verona.
He conducted the Valleogra Choral Group of Schio (1975-81), the choir of the Julia Alpine Brigade (1981-82), the Schola Cantorum of Malo (1975-97), the Concentus Vocalis (Vicenza), the Verona Choral Studio (1997-98), the choir-workshop Studio 97 (Diocese of Vicenza), Collegium vocale (Friends of the Verona Conservatory) with monographic repertoires. He participated in the “Forum International de Musique Chorale Contemporaine” project “El Canto” (1999) conducting the “Umberto Zeni” Vocal Ensemble.
He is a guest professor in seminars for conductors and teachers (from 1996 to 2005 at the Gubbio Festival, in 2013 at the Academy of Wroclaw, Poland, in 2018 at the University of Miskolc, Hungary). In 2015 and 2016 he was a teacher at the Feniarco Spring Festival; from 2014 to 2018 he held courses for the South Tyrol Choir Federation, the Italian Pueri cantores Federation, ASAC, ARCOVA, the CAI National Choral Centre and is a member of the jury in composition and choral competitions. He collaborates with many entities, from amateur to professional, with flexible, targeted and stimulating projects, which involve singers and conductors at the same time; he carries out intense work as a choir and orchestra conductor, consultant for instrumental and choral groups. He conducts traditional, contemporary and first performance pages. With “Scrivi che ti canto” (edited by the Società del Quartetto di Vicenza) he invented a national poetry-music competition for compulsory schools. Today he is known and appreciated thanks to the repertoire published in anthologies and the video lessons on the web “Fare un bel coro, istruzioni per l’uso”.
In 2002 he received the “Castello d’Oro” (Corocastel, Conegliano) and in 2006 the “Italian choral music” award (Coro Monte Nero, Piacenza). Since he was young he obtained victories in national and international choral competitions: Vittorio Veneto (1977) Adria (1977, 1978, 1982) Ivrea (1979), Cuneo (1981), Stresa (1985). First prizes in Choral Composition competitions: Trieste USCI (1989), Verona AGC (2002, 2004, 2008), Tours (reported with publication 1985).
He published choral music, for organ and liturgy (Carrara, Elledici, A Coeur Joie, Società Filarmonica di Trento), for piano four hands (Sikorsky). His sacred and profane compositions are part of the repertoires of many Italian and foreign choirs and are performed in international concerts and competitions. His opera “La fabbrica di cioccolato” (after R. Dahl) was performed at the Teatro Malibran in Venice (2011). In 2017 he composed “L’Annunciazione”, a Marian cantata for choir and instrumental ensemble based on a poem by P. P. Pasolini. The Casa Editrice Carrara published (2012) the method “Esperienze corali” which is now a reference text for conservatory teachers and choir directors. He directs large choral groups at important events: IV Conference (Diocese of Verona, 1987), Se in Trentino d’Estate un Castello (Castel B eseno, Fed. Cori Trentino, 1989), 32nd Loreto International Festival (RAI Uno, 1992), Conto Cento Canto Pace (Arena di Verona, ASAC, 2015).
Božidar Crnjanski
Božidar Crnjanski finished the postgraduate studies in choral conducting in the class of prof. Tatjana Ostojic at the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad. He participated in the International Project Campus Cantat in Dortmund (Germany), choral conducting master classes Winter Scohol, 2005 in Dubrovnik with prof. Mats Nilsen (Royal Academy Stockholm, Sweden) and conductor Gary Graden (Ljubljana).
He is the first and only conductor from Serbia who collaborated with Euro Choir (AGEC, Belgium) in 2010, the ensemble of young and talented singers from all over Europe. Crnjanski actively cooperates with the Chamber Choir of the Serbian National Theatre, Mixed Choir of the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad Novi Sad, as well as the men’s choir of St. Seraphim of Sarov from Zrenjanin, with which, from 1997 onwards, he has done a large number of performances at home and abroad (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Switzerland, Russia, Australia- Sydney Opera House … ).
While working with mixed choir of Cultural and Art Society ” Svetozar Marković ” from Novi Sad (2002-2013) conductor Bozidar Crnjanski achieved huge success, winning a number of international awards: Preveza 2004 (I prize), Sofia 2004 (I prize), Arezzo 2005 (I prize), Masmechelen 2007 (III prize), Prijedor 2008 (I prize), Niš (I prize), Pardubice 2009 (two first prizes and laureate), Gorizia 2011 (I prize), Torrevieja 2012 (I prize), and participated on all major music festivals and competitions in the country accomplishing an active concert activity of choir.
He is founder and artistic director of the Novi Sad Chamber Choir (2013). With this ensemble, he has won many awards and participated in the festivals: 13-Internationaler Kammerchor Wettbewerb Marktoberdorf, Germany (2013); XVII Festival International de Chant Choral “Voix du Monde”, Nancy, France (2014); Two gold medals in the category of mixed and youth choirs at the First International Choir Festival, Herceg Novi, Montenegro (2015); Gold medal and the overall second prize at the 11. Internationaler Chorwettbewerb Miltenberg, Germany (2016); 63. Festival Habaneras y Polifonia, Torrevieja, Espana ( 2017); 68. Festival Junger Künstler Bayreuth, Germany ( 2018 ); First prize in the category of mixed choirs at the 40. International May Music Competition prof. Georgi Dimitrov , Varna, Bulgaria (2019).
He has been awarded the best conductor at the 1st International Choir Festival in Sofia in 2004 by the Bulgarian Choral Society, as well as the Festival of Music Societies of Vojvodina in 2009. and 2011, and at the 40. International May Music Competition prof. Georgi Dimitrov , Varna, Bulgaria (2019).
Božidar Crnjanski is employed as an Professor of conducting at the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad.
Cornelius Trantow
Prof. Cornelius Trantow studied church music and choral conducting in Hamburg, after initially studying physics in Bielefeld and Oldenburg. He works as a choral director, choral conducting teacher, conductor and vocal coach. He has won numerous national and international prizes, including first prize at the German Choir Competition in 2006 and prizes in Marktoberdorf, Toulouse, Cork, Mosbach, Debrecen and Llangollen, with his choir “Ensemble Vocal”. Since 1999 he has been professor of choral conducting at the Hamburg Academy of Music and Theatre, where in 2011 he was awarded the Hamburg Teaching Prize.
In 2018, Cornelius Trantow won another first prize at the German Choir Competition: The Chamber Choir of the Hamburg Academy of Music and Theatre, which he founded in 2013, won the category “mixed choirs” and achieved the highest score in the competition. Since 2023, Trantow has been artistic director of the Hamburg State Youth Choir.
Michał Brożek
Conductor, organist, composer, music teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Music Karol Szymanowski in Katowice. In 2009 he completed his first cycle studies in two specializations: Music Education and Conducting of Vocal and Vocal-Instrumental Ensembles, as well as in the specialization of Sacred Music. In 2011 he graduated with honors from the second cycle of studies in the following specializations: choral conducting and music theory in the conducting class of Prof. Ph.D. Iwona Melson and the subjects of music education and music theory. In 2010 he participated in the 13th National Competition for Choral Conductors in Poznań. He also deepened his experience as a chorister, collaborating, among others, with the Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music in Katowice, conducted by prof. Czeslaw Freund.
During his studies, in 2008, he founded the choir “Cantate Deo” at the parish of the Holy Cross in Tychy, with which he received awards and recognitions at choral festivals and reviews. He is also a music teacher at the Elementary School No. 3 in Lędziny and at the Elementary School No. 6 in Tychy. In 2013, he took over the position of choirmaster at the University of Economics in Katowice. Since 2015, he has been the artistic director of the Tychy District Christmas and Pastoral Carol Festival for primary, secondary and post-secondary schools. He has released 3 CDs: Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem (2014) and Christmas carols recorded with the choir “Cantate Deo” (2015) and with the choir of the University of Economics (2016).
